Publicity Perspectives
On July 28, 2009, Vassar alumnae/i gathered at their homes for a teleconference on changing your career and preparing to face the job market after taking time off. Co-sponsored by the Career Development Office and the Alumnae and Alumni of Vassar College, the teleconference featured Frances Cole Jones, author of How to Wow: Proven Strategies for Selling Your (Brilliant) Self in any Situation. Listen to the recording (approximately 40 minutes long).
Career networking is a vital part of professional development. As a Vassar alumna/us, you are part of, and have access to, a network of more than 36,000 people who have shared the Vassar experience and who have valuable professional, volunteer, and personal knowledge to share.

V-NET is a database of Vassar alumnae/i and some parents (of students and alumnae/i) who have offered their volunteer services as "Career Advisers." This means that they have made themselves available as volunteers to offer mentoring, internships, advice and guidance. If you don't find what you're looking for in V-NET, try the Alumnae/i Directory.
AVID: Alumnae/i for Vassar Internship Development
The AVID program is aimed at strengthening the Vassar network for current students and recent graduates. The program allows alumnae/i to assume a true mentorship role to students and recent graduates through internships and jobs they may have to offer.
We invite you to become an AVID alumna/us and reach out to students and recent graduates to help them take the first step in their careers. If you have an internship or job opportunity to share, please contact the Vassar Career Development Office at cdo@vassar.edu.
The Alumnae/i Directory contains listings for all alumnae/i, and included in its many search options is "Industry." Just because an alumna/us hasn't activated a V-NET profile (yet) doesn't mean that they aren't willing to network. You should utilize this resource to enhance and broaden your pool of networking opportunities.
Job/Résumé posting and searching services allow you to browse/post within the Vassar alumnae/i community.
We hope that these services will assist you in your career networking adventures. If you need career advice or guidance not found in this Career Center, please contact the Office of Career Development at cdo@vassar.edu. If you're experiencing technical difficulties using these services, please contact the alumnae/i association at aavcweb@vassar.edu.
