Scholarship Fundraising

Many Vassar clubs engage in fundraising efforts that benefit the Vassar College scholarship program. This tradition began early in the college’s history to ensure that the highest caliber students would have the opportunity to attend Vassar, regardless of their ability to pay the full tuition.

Some Vassar clubs sell products, known as Think Presents, throughout the year to raise money for student scholarships, and other clubs organize events (e.g., Philadelphia Showhouse, Chicago Scholarship Benefit, etc.) that raise funds that support student scholarships. All products produce income that the clubs donate to Vassar College to benefit current students from their club region.

Between July 1, 2004 and June 30, 2005, clubs raised $226,796 for student scholarships. Club scholarships are awarded solely on the basis of financial need, determined by the college, and benefit students who reside in the boundaries of the Vassar club that gave the gift.
