Wild Alaska
August 10 – 17
Explore real Alaska on this amazing adventure to the Last Frontier. Trek under rainforest canopies in the mountain town of Girdwood. Ride a tram 2,000 feet to the top of Mount Alyeska for unparalleled glacier views. Journey through the spectacular Chugach Mountains and learn about native flora and fauna. Dip your toes in the clear, turquoise waters of the famed Kenai River, and scan the river banks for abundant moose populations and the occasional black (or brown) bear fishing in the river. Raft, explore and relax in private wooded wilderness settings. Cruise through Kenai Fjords National Park and encounter an array of wildlife (whales, sea lions, puffins, seals and more). Savor delectable fine dining and unwind at upscale wilderness lodges, like the exclusive Kenai Fjords Glacier Lodge – the only lodge of its kind within the 700,000-acre Kenai Fjords National Park. Kayak, hike, beach comb and more by day; gather around the bonfire – or wood-fired sauna – by night, all under the Midnight Sun. Meander through mountain meadows, and beyond, on a comfortable rail tour back to civilization in Anchorage.
