Gardens & Writers in the English Countryside

May 25 - June 1

English CountrysideThis weeklong tour with Associate Professor of Music Kathryn Libin features the best of the British countryside - from the rolling hills of the Cotswolds to the scenic meadows of Dorset. The itinerary is an intriguing blend of scenery, literature, gardens, history, and art.

Staying in the shadow of the spire of Salisbury Cathedral, you will dine at garden designer Rosemary Verey's former home, follow in the footsteps of great authors like Jane Austen and Thomas Hardy, and meet fascinating local artists and craftsmen in their homes and studios. While based in the prosperous cathedral town of Salisbury, the tour strikes out to many of Southern England's most beautiful and romantic sites.

English CountrysideRevel in the beauty of the Cotswolds, with their quiet villages and grand gardens. Come face-to-face with the ancient mystery of Stonehenge. Visit the former home of Lawrence of Arabia. Be a guest at majestic country houses that are familiar from such great films as Pride and Prejudice, Sense & Sensibility, and The Madness of King George. There is even a day's excursion to the lesser known, but truly lovely, villages around Salisbury, with the chance to join a country walk.

The English countryside is at its best in the springtime, and this carefully crafted tour is the perfect chance to experience its famous and hidden charms.
